With outbreaks among British travellers on the up (by 30% in the past two years, people! ) it’s time to take malaria seriously. It can cause intense fever, vomiting and in some cases even death!

Although malaria causes thousands of deaths, particularly in young children, around the world each year, there are several cheap and easy ways to prevent it. These include:

  • mosquito nets that hang over your bed at night
  • insect repellent to spray on your body
  • drugs, like Chloroquine, given to you by a doctor before your trip
